the LOUIE awards

Revered as the greeting card industry’s equivalent of the Academy Awards, the Greeting Card Association’s 20th Annual International Greeting Card Awards – known as the LOUIEs – recognized the best greeting cards and stationery products of 2007. As a first-time entrant in the competition, Studio Expressio was pleased to be named a finalist, along with Meri Meri and Up With Paper, in the Christmas/Holiday/Humorous (above $3.00) category, and honored to be named the winner in the new category of “Superbly Stated” (above $3.00). A special “Cirque du LOUIE” themed celebration honoring the competition’s 20th anniversary and announcing the winners was held at The Capitale in New York City on May 19, 2008.

Studio Expressio was one of eight first-time winners. The competition drew more than 1,000 entries in 63 categories from more than 150 U.S. and international publishing companies, including those in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, England and South Africa. Each entry was judged by criteria including Imagination, Impact, Artistry, Harmony, Sendability and Value.

The LOUIE awards are named after German lithographer Louis Prang, who is credited with the birth of the U.S. card industry in the 1870s. For a complete list of the 2007 LOUIE finalists, click here.
